Honoring human dignity, showing love and attention to all our compatriots, regardless of nationality, language and religion, as the main principle established in our Constitution and the "Uzbekistan - 2030" strategy, is becoming the criterion of our activities in every sphere and industry today.
In this regard, it is increasingly important to remember our ancestors who fell in the fight against fascism during the Second World War, our brave sons who sacrificed their lives to protect the independence of our Motherland during the independence period, and to show respect and honor to our war and labor veterans and our devoted compatriots who are still alive and well among us today. Their glorious life path and labor activities have become an invaluable spiritual wealth of our people and serve as a school of courage and perseverance in educating our younger generation as patriotic people.
Taking into account these factors, in order to widely celebrate May 9 - Day of Remembrance and Honor as a national holiday in our country, to honor our esteemed veterans who, along with our entire people, made a huge contribution to the great victory over fascism in World War II, to honor the memory of military personnel and law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty during the years of independence, as well as to educate the growing younger generation in the spirit of love and devotion to the Motherland, the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On measures to prepare for and hold May 9 - Day of Remembrance and Honor” was adopted on April 16, 2026, and it was determined that the holiday events would be held under the slogan “Duty, courage, fortitude!”
It is noteworthy that it sets out a wide range of tasks aimed at beautifying memorial monuments, appreciating the illustrious, and strengthening historical memory and patriotic feelings in the hearts of young people.
Uzbeks have always been a peace-loving people. We have a great national and spiritual heritage dedicated to the promotion of this idea. In all of them, the appreciation of peace is promoted, and war is completely condemned.
This noble goal and idea underlies the recognition of May 9 - the Day of Memory and Honor as a national holiday.
Remembering the dead and appreciating those who served in our ranks are among the priority tasks of our government's policy, and every year the heroes of the nation are duly encouraged.
A person comes to this world to live happily. All blessings are for the benefit of a person and his interests. And we are indebted to them for our peaceful and prosperous days today!
I congratulate all our compatriots once again on May 9 - the Day of Memory and Honor.
May our country be peaceful, and our sky always clear!
